FOOD AND MOOD THERAPY AND SOLUTION  MENTORING

Food and mood therapy for children, young people and adults is a non-clinical therapeutic approach which helps to create a space for people to communicate their wishes and feelings using food.

Sometimes working with food can be controlled, chaotic or unpredictable but this doesn’t matter. As you prepare and cook foods with your chosen ingredients, you are supported to begin structuring communication from several places.

How Food & Mood Therapy Helps You

With your therapist, we will work together so we can begin to communicate your reality, how it is produced, maintained, repaired and transformed. The therapeutic use of food is nourishing, relaxing and fun,  it's also a creative way to slow down and re-focus using visual food imagery, taste and mindfulness. Culinary therapy can support you to add a taste of excitement to your day. It's benefits are rich and nutritious and includes supportive interventions to increase mood, self-esteem, relationships, clear thinking, as well as connecting with people on a deeper level.

Your therapist will mentor and encourage you to tap into your thoughts for the purpose of gaining greater self-awareness about your potential and life choices. You get to explore what solutions you can use to improve your own resources. Together, we will explore your goals using food tastes, smells, colours and experiences.  In doing this we can begin to discuss the building blocks that support you to look at the ways you can start to manage and share meaning and goals with others. This meaning includes even the seemingly small inconspicuous acts of communication or you may want to just learn to cook or have a little bit of foodie fun and talk.
